Capricorn, the tenth Sign of the Zodiac, is all about hard work. Those born under this Sign are more than happy to put in a full day at the office, realizing that it will likely take a lot of those days to get to the top. That's no problem, since Capricorns are both ambitious and determined: they will get there. Life is one big project for these folks, and they adapt to this by adopting a businesslike approach to most everything they do. Capricorns are practical as well, taking things one step at a time and being as realistic and pragmatic as possible. The Capricorn-born are extremely dedicated to their goals, almost to the point of stubbornness. Boy, those victories sure smell sweet, though, and that thought alone will keep Capricorns going. Ruled by Staurn and symbolized by the goat, A Capriconr is usually described as 'economical , practical, perservering, shrewd, diplomatic, reserved, cautious. The Capricorn's traits lead him to great wealth no matter how long he has to wait for it. Not always happy the Capricorn hides this from people and is seen as misunderstood. When their dreams are unfulfilled they become surly and depressed. They have a clever and sublte intellect and delight in winning arguments. Capricornians make close friends but bitter enemies They are not to be crossed. |

Karma Capricorn is the worker bee of the Zodiac. It has long-term goals in mind and works toward them constantly, sometimes to the exclusion of all else. This Sign may be the most determined and ambitious of the Zodiac; as a Cardinal Earth Sign, Capricorn combines the benefits of a grounded stability with a sense of initiative and ambition to work its way steadily toward the top. The trouble is, in the process this Sign may neglect other important life pursuits such as family, relaxation, fun ... Also, this drive to reach the top may be something of an empty pursuit, since "the top" often means simply the height of public recognition. Status and recognition, in themselves, aren't reason enough to do anything; Capricorn may lack a sense of humility or of the importance of contributing to the greater good rather than to one's own resume. Capricorns make great students and employees; their commitment to perfection ensures they'll never turn in a sloppy report. This points to another of this Sign's weaknesses, however: Its perfectionism means Capricorn is afraid to make even the smallest of mistakes. As ruled by Saturn, the Planet of Karma, Capricorn is imbued with an undue sense of responsibility and tends to be sober and earnest as a result. To many Capricorns, there's no such thing as "one little mistake"; that mistake is the very one, in their minds, that could throw things off further down the line, ruining that grand plan they've been working toward since the very beginning. This mindset produces far too much stress; Capricorn must learn to lighten up, even if only for the sake of mental health. This same mindset may also mean that Capricorn doesn't make such a great boss. The controlling urges that lead them to strive for perfect results from themselves allow them to expect no less from others. Behind closed doors, employees may call their Capricorn boss a slave-driver! This is that Saturn energy at work again; Saturn is sometimes called the taskmaster Planet, and Capricorn takes up where Saturn leaves off. Capricorns tend to think their way is the best way and have a hard time taking tips or directions from others. Capricorns make mistakes too, of course, and rather than making a big deal of it, Cap must learn simply to say "Oops!" and move on gracefully. The worry that one mistake, no matter how minor, could throw things off in a major way gives Capricorn a rather fatalistic viewpoint. Rather than being unforgiving and inflexible, this Sign must learn to allow room for error. Part of the problem lies in being overly concerned with what others will think of them if their errors are made known. Capricorns must realize that others don't notice their "shortcomings" nearly as much as they do themselves; in fact, others may not consider making mistakes to be a shortcoming at all. If Capricorn can abandon the rigidity in this thinking, it will be freed to relax and do some truly inspired work. Capricorn can look to Aries to learn how to move on quickly rather than deliberating or obsessively trying to attain perfection. Cancer can teach Capricorn about valuing family and the home over work and industry, and Libra can inspire Capricorn to maintain a balanced view of mistakes and, more importantly, that sweetness is a better way to get results than cracking the whip! |

Symbol: the Sea Goat The Goat symbolizes Capricorns, and an apt mascot it is. Goats love to climb to the top of the mountain, where the air is clear and fresh. In much the same way, Capricorns want to get to the top of their chosen field so that they can reap the benefits of success; namely fame, prestige and money. Getting to the top isn't always a walk in the park, however, so it's likely that Goats will ruffle a few feathers along the way. These folks can indeed be domineering, even egotistical, on their route to the top. They'll tell you it's part of being a leader with bright new ideas (in keeping with the Cardinal Quality assigned to this Sign). Capricorns are industrious, efficient, organized and won't make a lot of waves. They are scrupulous with details and adopt a rather conventional posture in business and in life. These folks feel best playing it safe, since this is a fail-safe way to get to the top -- eventually. Thankfully, Capricorns are patient, too, and are happy to wait for their ship to come in. The flip side to this staid behavior is that Goats can become quite unforgiving of those who aren't as diligent or ambitious as they are. Capricorns need to remember that they do need allies along the way, ambitious or otherwise. In any case, once Capricorns receive the recognition and social status they so fervently crave, it's likely that all will be forgiven. |

Ruling Planet: Saturn Capricorn is ruled by the Planet Saturn. In ancient Roman mythology, Saturn was the father of many of the gods. Consider him top dog, if you will, and then you'll see a parallel to Capricorns. Those born under this Sign also want to be the top dog, and they're smart enough to know that the title won't simply be handed to them. Caps are happy to work for it, and luckily they possess enough discipline and sense of responsibility to get them there. Capricorns tend to be mature and are amply blessed with common sense, two more qualities which help their success-driven endeavors. With any kind of luck (make that considerable work), Caps will find themselves on that top step, but they should also remember those who have helped them on their quest. They are traditional (but not quite the button-down stiffs some would suggest) and somewhat inhibited, prompting others to wonder if they can ever enjoy success and its rarefied air. Rest assured, these folks will be smiling inside. Capricorn is ruled by the Planet Saturn. In ancient Roman mythology, Saturn was the father of many of the gods. Ruling House: Tenth House House of Friendships The Eleventh House is commonly referred to as the House of Friends. Through our friends, we find strength in numbers -- we see the power of the collective, the group. Groups addressed by this House include clubs, organizations, social groups, networking organizations and professional associations. The focus here is on the activities we undertake within these groups, how we make a difference and as a result, how we grow and actualize our true selves. Further, it's the group, by virtue of its collective strength, which helps to define what we as individuals will do. As we grow, we have more opportunities and possibilities available to us, and the Eleventh House addresses these. Our interactions and efforts are in keeping with our priorities in life; these interactions have the ability to enhance our lives. A labor of love? Yes, in many ways. Through our friends and group activities we add substance and meaning to our lives and to society. The Eleventh House also speaks to destiny -- in simple terms, our hopes and dreams, what we desire and what we want to achieve. Our creative vision is highlighted, the simple act of working toward our maximal selves. The power of collective creation, as well as the creative sparks generated by the group, are also important to this House. By banding together, we can create so much more. In joining with our friends, we not only accomplish a great deal, but we can also enjoy the fruits of our labor. The Eleventh House also addresses the kind of friend we are: what do we do for others? How do we view our friends? How do they view us? It is our basic character which, to a great extent, defines the friends and groups we choose. Oftentimes, we work with our friends toward a greater good and in the hope of improving society. This is our philanthropic side coming to the fore, the ability to selflessly and eagerly help others. It is also our humanity manifesting itself most effectively. At times, we may upset the proverbial apple cart, but the sum total of our efforts should be to look at the end result. If that's good, then the process of getting there, for better or for worse, is worthwhile. Lastly, the Eleventh House also governs stepchildren, foster children and adopted children. The Eleventh House is ruled by the Sign Aquarius and the Planets Saturn and Uranus. |

Element: Earth The Element associated with Capricorn is Earth. No big surprise there! Caps are down-to-earth in the sense that they're not interested in wild ideas or round-the-world dreams. They would much rather stay put and get to work. Remember, these are the businesspeople of the Zodiac, so in their sensible and economical way, they'll get up every morning and see to it that their job is done to the highest degree of quality possible. While Caps can occasionally get a bit materialistic and greedy (they just want a reward for all their hard work), they are far too dignified and practical to get carried away. Plus, they love tradition and reserve and want to appear polite and friendly. A Capricorn at rest (yes, there is such a thing) enjoys leisurely sports, like golf and croquet -- so long as they have a chance to win! Playing with a crew is also nice, since it brings to mind their beloved workplace. Team colors for a Capricorn are likely to be earthy brown and khaki, much like the classic, relaxed slacks they like to wear. Sporty Caps also need to watch their teeth and knees, and they shouldn't be too daring, lest they break some bones. When it comes to love, Capricorns are ever devoted and never emotive. Their ambition is boundless, yet they are cautious, responsible and always play fair. That's why their successes are all the more sweet. |
