I was only on Paxil for a week, but I wanted to mention it here. It made me "high" I went into a manic episode from this drug so it was stopped and trazodone was used in replacemnet. Trazodone enhanced the response of alcohol and I was an alcholic... shrinks need to do their homework a little better. And i need to be diligent in the course of my care, but it is hard when you are actively "sick"
Paxil is a potent and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This activity of the drug on brain neurons is thought to be responsible for its antidepressant effects.
Paxil is a phenylpiperidine derivative which is chemically unrelated to the tricyclic or tetracyclic antidepressants.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Paxil for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Storage: - keep in a tightly sealed container in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Protect from light.
Missed dose: - No cause for concern but take when you remember. If your next dose is in three hours, take a single dose now and forget the next.
Stopping the drug: - If only taken for a short period you can stop immediately, but if you have been taking this drug for an extended period of time then you need to taper off according to doctor's instructions.

Interactions
Sedatives - increase the sedative properties of Paxil. Such drugs are alcohol, sleeping drugs, antihistamines, antidepressants, narcotic analgesics and antipsychotics.
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI's) - Tricyclics should not be given during or within 14 days of treatment of MAOI's. Serious reaction could occur.
