I took lithium for about 3-4 years. I can't remember the exact time. It was supposed to correct mood swings. I didn't know what to expect again, when I started this drug. I kept reporting no change and my shrink would up the dose. I was on 1800 mg's a day and i got a terrible case of the shakes. my hands shook so violently that when I ate, my food would be flung from my fork across the table. I couldn't carry dishes to the sink or write my name.
